It’s My Blog, So I’ll Pimp As I See Fit

Two more albums up on eBay, and both going for a steal. . .Check them out here.

Now I’m going to tell you about the smartest thing I did all week. I went garage sale-ing last Saturday which I haven’t done in years, and I should definitely make a habit. We dropped by one place where the lady had a daughter about a year older than Maggie. She was selling her kid clothes for almost nothing! Most stuff was a quarter, and it was good stuff! I grabbed several outfits and five pairs of shoes (including little teeny tiny sketchers!) And then I spied two baby Halloween costumes. Now, Maggie already has a hand me down ladybug costume, but I couldn’t help but wonder how they would do on ebay. I figured, hey, for a quarter, I can’t go wrong. I bought them both and threw them online.

They just closed out a few minutes ago at $26.00 and $7.05. Insane. But very, very fortunate seeing as how the car ate my food budget and I will be feeding a family of four off the ebay proceeds from the month. $33.05 buys a lot of noodles and rice, which are the only things I can afford. If the minis do well I could maybe afford something fun like chicken; wouldn’t that be exciting? I hate being broke.

I keep telling myself, I’m not pregnant and I didn’t get a ticket. We’s O-kay.

  1. Your albums are always so beautiful! The cute embellishments and attention to detail really makes it such a treasure. What a great idea for making some extra cash. The scrapbook store near me just went out of business, so I’ve been doing a lot of shopping online. You could open an online business with these lovely books.

  2. Hi, new reader here, found you via Zazzafooky. Your blog is great, so funny and so true! Your kids are cuties too. I am just starting out doing scrapbooking, so your books are definitely inspiring. Do you use idea books to come up with the designs, or are they all your ideas? They are beautiful, either way. :)

  3. Another new reader coming out of lurkdom!

You might be onto something with Ebay - the one time I did a lot of kids clothing I made a nice bit of profit…I went to Goodwill on 50% off Saturdays - so baby clothing was $1.00, bought a bunch of Baby Gap and Gymboree in great condition and more than doubled my money. If you got brand name garage sale stuff for a quarter you could make even more. I also had luck with purses; bought a Nine West Diaper bag for $1.50 and it sold for $45.00!

I had great plans of turning ebay into a little side business for myself, and bought a bunch of stuff, but it all sat in my closet waiting for me to get around to taking pics and listing…and my husband finally donated it (ironically, back to Goodwill):)

  4. Way to go on the Ebay sales! I just bought a Halloween Costume for C on there - cost me $31 plus shipping. There were lots about and I saw them as high as $56, so I reckon I did good.

  5. Heh, I did a post last year about the people buying some of my kid’s things on ebay. My mouth was hanging open finding out what they’d pay for a scary Gippedo doll.

But your albums? Are beautiful. Nice work.

  7. yeah, i know how the broke thing goes! I keep thinking how much i would love one of those books for cassie (my daughter) but then i am brought back to the reality that i can’t even afford to buy her clothes, let alone a cute book to put photos in. Mabey i should try this e-bay thing or the grage sale thing. p.s. lou i am still an avid fan although i don’t write many comments you can be sure i check your site on a regular basis ;)

  8. Lou, the scrapbook is gorgeous. And you are right, it is a steal, cause I know that materials are expensive.
