Ready For The Good That Is To Come

After downing massive amounts of Claritan, I feel like a new woman! My allergies here just keep getting worse. What a joy! The great thing is, we won’t be stationed here forever. Someday we’ll be sent to exotic places like Iceland or Milwaukee and I can work on becoming allergic to those places. Such is life.

Jonas is starting school next week! He will be in preschool four days a week all afternoon, and speech will be starting up again for two mornings a week. I couldn’t be happier for him or for myself! The poor guy is bored to tears, and he gets curiously destructive when he’s bored. “What will happen if I swing from the curtains?” “How high can I fling a bowl of pasta?” I am eager for him to start performing these experiments somewhere other than my house.

Of course, I am totally stoked to be getting the afternoon to myself! Maggie still naps in the afternoons, and since her big brother won’t be around to poke her in the cheek and tell her to wake up, she may actually get some rest, and I may actually be able to spend quality, uninterrupted time scrubbing my floor or creating in my scrapbook room!

So, in short, I’m scrapping like crazy, and looking so forward to the crazy holiday seasons and to Jonas being able to spread his wings and explore the world. He is so ready. I’m so ready.

Surviving

HI there! I survived my first week in survivor, barely. I have no idea how long I’m going to last there. Half the people are voting off those with the worst scrapbook pages, and half are voting off the biggest threats. Here is my layout of the week:

I also made a card for the immunity challenge, which I didn’t win, but I submitted it for publication and Paper Arts magazine picked it up- so it couldn’t have been that bad, ha!

As for me, I have entered two more scrap contests, so I am basically breathing scrapbooking supplies. I am also fighting a strange illness that is either allergies or a very indecisive head cold. Last night, my eyes watered so much I looked positively distraught. I woke up with my eyes nearly swollen shut this morning. Come noon, I was nearly back to normal- only the occasional twenty minute bout of sniffles during which I scramble madly to locate my box of tissues under all of the scrapbook supplies.

Funny aside? I bought tissues with Cars characters on them- Jonas was so stoked when he saw them that he ripped open the box. Apparently he thought there were Cars toys inside; he was sorely disappointed with the Kleenex.
