Tantrum

Maggie is cutting at least three teeth. On top of that, she has a cold. On top of that, she is fast approaching the age of two, and is thoroughly embracing toddlerhood and all of its screaming tantrums. These things combined means that I now have a deeply unpleasant child, and since she is so rarely like this, I don’t have any coping skills.

I can totally do the tantrums. Jonas was a champion fit thrower; it would take quite the act to top that kid. However, Maggie does have one thing Jonas never had. Maggie, and I assume this is a girl thing, has the highest pitched scream imaginable. I can do the thrashing, I can do the hitting, I can manage the head butting and yelling- but when that high pitched scream starts, I’d like nothing more than to drop her on her head, cover my ears and run for my life. And I think that’s a reasonable response.

I am so looking forward to her feeling better. She’s a really nice kid when she’s feeling better.
