Officially, She Is My Cat

I took Miss Lissy to the vet ten days ago and was dismayed to find that she had already been micro chipped. However, after much searching, all of the numbers and info for her old owners have been disconnected, and it looks like these people dumped her when they moved to Germany. Ugh. How can people do that? How can you toss a domesticated animal that has no idea how to fend for itself out the door, knowing that you are most likely sentencing it to a short life filled with starvation, disease, inclement weather and injury? It’s just plain wrong.
The vet was pretty disgusted by it, especially since Lissy seems to be a gorgeous Himalayan with the temperament of an angel. She said that had these people brought her to the Humane Society, she would have been adopted almost immeadiately. So, our situation is a combonation of the very worst and very best case scenario. We are both fortunate to have found each other. We had a ten day waiting period while the vet tried to contact the old owners, and now, Lissy is officially mine. Yea!
Clearly, our kitty is the type who needs the royal pampering treatment, which is why when she expressed an interest in the basket I used to keep my paper scraps in, I quickly dumped the scraps into a lesser container, and allowed Her Royal Fluffiness to curl up. Which, not surprisingly, is where she is even as I am typing this. I have two of these baskets- one for scraps and one that is holding some of my albums in the front entry. I think I might grab that one for the scraps and buy a new, larger basket for the albums since it’s pretty full now.
Lissy is still extremely affectionate and cuddly, tolerant and sweet. She is very patient with Maggie, and tolerates Jonas who loves her with an almost dangerous exuberance. She is usually found in my scrap room, since that is where I am usually found, either typing away, watching a movie on the computer or creating.

She sleeps at the foot of my bed every night and wakes me with furry purry kisses and kitty massage in the morning. Since I used to wake up to demanding cries of “Maahhhh-ahhm”, I’m enjoying this new kinder, gentler wake up call. I love being a cat mommy!
