Makin’ Waves: A Life As Lou Online Class
This is a very simple LO to create, and an easy pattern to adapt to many different themes. I used the July Home Scrap Club kit!
To begin:
1-Start with 2 sheets of white cardstock.
2- Take your wavy piece of blue and brown stripe paper and cut along the wave pattern to create a 4 x12 inch strip. Ink the edges and lay it so it goes over the center of the two pages. There should be about 2 inches on the right page and 10 inches on the left.
3- using your chipboard arrow as a pattern, cut an arrow shape out of blue cardstock. Type up your journaling and adjust the margins of your page to make it fit on the arrow. Print it onto regular paper and then lay the arrow over it to make sure it is a fit. When it is a fit, tack the arrow over the printed part (I used a few dabs of mono adhesive) and then run it through the printer again. You can also handwrite, if you prefer.
4. Carefully lift the printed on arrow off of the computer paper and adhere it to the chipboard arrow. I also added a strip of orange and a strip of patterned paper to spruce up the arrow a bit. Once it is on, I inked the edges to create a distressed look and to give it more definition.
5. Punch holes in the bottom of your arrow to tie ribbon through. I used the July kit add on ribbon, but any combo of blues, oranges and browns will work. I like to use a Crop-a-Dile to punch my holes through chipboard- it’s a very easy cut.
6. Now select four pictures. Your large picture should be a 5x7 and your three small should be appx. 3x5 (they can vary a bit).
7. Cut a piece of orange cardstock to mat your large photo with, but cut it to about 4.5x7 inches, and lay it beneath the focal point photo so it hangs off to one side, creating a shadow effect.
8. Cut a circle in the lower left hand corner of your focal point photo. Make the circle slightly larger than the chipboard circle embellishment, and the adhere the circle in the center.
9. Once your photos are all adhered, you can embellish at will. I really liked the paper clips on either side to create balance and the flowers here and there for some added interest.
10. Ink the edges of your layout to visually bring the eye toward the center.
11. Add a title. I used the Quickutz Revolution font Washington, but you could use just about anything and have it work. Try chipboard letters or a hand doodled title too!
