My Sexy Skeleton, My Dysfunctional Body, The Bathroom & My Sweet Boy

-Yesterday I allowed three men to photograph me in very suggestive poses and with very little clothing on. If you’ve ever had hip and spine X-rays, you will understand what I’m talking about. It felt oddly dirty. I’m sure that I have a very sexy skeleton.

-Many of you have been following my bizarre health over the past few months, and I am thrilled to say that I finally have an actual diagnosis. I have Fibromyalgia. I’m on the young side for it, but after ruling out pretty much every single horrible disease known to man, this is what is left and it makes perfect sense. How is my life going to change knowing this? Not much. However, I do get to feel legitimate and not as if I’m some sort of slacker, panty-waist, hypochondriac. And that feels good. Fishface good.

-I snapped after a full year of not having a bathroom rug and went out and bought new bathroom decor. No one is allowed to touch the towels except company. The rug is so squooshy soft! Now I just need to figure out what to put on the walls. That part of decorating always stumps me.

-Homework every darn day for a Kindergartner is too much. There is something very jacked up here. And now I have to make a scarecrow for the classroom wall. Whose homework is this, anyway?

-When we were together for our family reunion we ordered Chinese take-out. We wee all sitting around the table comparing fortunes when Jonas, who cannot read yet, held his up and pretended to read. You know what he said? “Follow Jesus.”
I suddenly feel like I must be doing something right.

  2. A very dear friend of mine has Fibromyalgia. After reading your posts about your health troubles and the diagnosis, and thinking about my friend’s symptoms, it makes perfect sense to me, too. I’m glad you finally have some answers—my friend tells me that especially since Fibromyalgia still has a lot of unknowns and has yet to be studied very closely, a lot of doctors over the years have told her that her pain and symptoms were all in her head. She said that it was often male doctors who told her that, also—probably because the disease mainly affects women. It was really frustrating for her, and I’m sure it has been for you, too. I’m so glad you’re finally getting to the bottom of it, and I hope you’ll get some relief! My thoughts are with you, Lou.

  3. Hi! My mom has fibromyalgia. It makes her life harder. Some days are good and some are bad. The up side is having your diagnosis! That must feel better to have a name to your issues. I hope you can find some women who share your condition and can empathize with you.

Your bathroom looks great, kind of a luxurious feel to it!

My kindergartner has homework, but it’s just reading a book everday together. School is a lot more demanding these days. I think it’s rotten to give assignments that are really meant for the parents to do, but I can just see the scarecrow you would make..all those scrapbook supplies..so little time.

    Take care, Dina

  4. Leah,

So glad you got a diagnosis finally. I can’t imagine how frustrating this has been for you. Just wanted to say that I LOVED your pics of Manti. I have a friend who was married there - and I went to the Pageant years ago. It was amazing. Long trip out there - but worth it!

    Blessings!

  6. Lou, I guess I haven’t been following your health issues closely enough as I suffer fibromyalgia myself. If I’d paid more attention maybe I would have seen it. Oh well, “a day late and a dollar short” seems to be the story of my life…lol Anyways, I can sympathize with your aches and pains, never ending fatigue, and other strange and annoying symptoms. My only advice…rest when you can, don’t push yourself farther than necessary(you’ll pay for it later), avoid massage(makes the pain greater, not better), and only discuss with other sufferers if you can(”outsiders” truly DO NOT understand your suffering and struggles). I’ve heard the “It’s all in your head, you’re being lazy, you sleep too much” crap far more times than you or I can count in a lifetime. I now live by the “unless you’ve experienced it, you cannot understand it” motto. Good luck to you. I’m always here if you need support from a fellow sufferer.

  7. Hi, just wanted to say that I love your crafts. Also that the bathroom looks great as it is. Neutral walls, are best, then you have a splash of colour, then you can change the colour of the accessories whenever you want.
