I’m In The Market For A Pre-Dinged Table
Yesterday, in a fit of sugar and exhaustion Maggie laid down on the kitchen table and fell asleep. This is what Halloween does to people.
But this post isn’t about the passed out preschooler. It’s about the table.
You may notice that we have an exceptionally small table. It is a two seater, with two chairs that match and two blue folding chairs that get pulled out for family meals. If we have company we either pull the plastic kiddie picnic table inside and have the kids sit down there or we pull out the card table and shove them together.
There are three reasons why we don’t have a normal sized table. First off, Chris and I have never found a table that we have both totally loved, and we try very hard to choose furniture that we are both happy about. Secondly, tables are awfully expensive! Thirdly, there is a little nagging voice in the back of my head warning me that the minute I go out and buy a beautiful, dark wood table with six or eight chairs that I love and adore, SOMEBODY is going to stab it with a fork. And then SOMEBODY else will color one of the legs with a Sharpie. And then this somebody (me) will have to cry because those darn somebodies nicked my little, tiny piece of perfection, and I will be overcome with a hollow, saddened, why-can’t-we-have-nice-things feeling, and it just won’t be pretty.
So I have decided that i am in the market for an inexpensive, pre-dinged table that hopefully seats six people, or even four with a leaf and I can still pull out the blue folding chairs when I need to. Anyone know the store that sells those? Neither do I, but I plan to find out.
