The Ultimate Party Meatball: Other Wise Titled: I’m A Pig

I was asked to try a new recipe for party meatballs, and so last night I whipped up a batch of these yummers! The Ultimate Party Meatball is the easiest appetizer ever to prepare this side of cracking open chips and salsa. It took me all of three minutes to make these.

The recipe:

1 jar Heinz chili sauce
1 can Ocean spray cranberry sauce
2 lbs of frozen meatballs

Then you throw them in a pot, stir it all up and serve.

I love how easy this is. Almost everything else I make is a from scratch, slave over a hot krumkake iron or pie crust recipe, and they take tons of time. It is nice to throw something in the hostessing mix that makes up for the more labor intensive recipes and party prep.

Now, if you are pregnant and craving these, don’t do as I did and eat a huge plateful for dinner. A few as an appetizer are wonderful, but pregnant gluttony tends to result in heartburn and a tummy ache. You would think I’d be aware of this, considering how many times I’ve been pregnant, but it is easy to forget, and also the reason why I ate an entire lemon meringue pie one day when I was expecting Maggie. Be ye not so dumb. Moderation.

  1. Isn’t it funny how pregnancy always makes you overdo it….you really should eat less because there is less room, but you always end up eating more and just being more miserable! I’m glad I’m not the only one….ha ha! :)

  2. I have a Christmas party in a couple of weeks and I’m also 30 weeks pregnant. :) Sounds like I have my dish picked out. BTW, what isle of the grocery store do you find Heinz chili sauce?

  4. You can also use a jar of grape jelly. :) We make these all the time! Everyone swears they’re something super labor intensive. :) I just smile and say “eat up” :)
