The Past 24 Hours Have Been Dedicated To Laundry

Wow. I have a really exciting life.

So exciting, in fact, that I got about five hundred loads of laundry behind. I couldn’t see the floor in my laundry room.

september 2220

I did the diapers. I did the towels.

I did a few loads of baby clothes.

I did a few loads of kid clothes-

they were all immediately put away in the clothes baskets in our laundry room.

I started washing clothes at 7am and I did not stop until 11pm.

And then I woke up and dedicated myself to linens and folding the last load.

Socks.

I hate washing socks.

I leave them at the bottom of the hamper until the entire family is desperate.

And then I find socks like this.

I really hope my children don’t take their socks off at school because when the holes are that big, people judge.

I threw that one out.

This is one of my favorite things about this machine. The crud catcher.

Otherwise known as the money catcher. The rock catcher. The hot wheels car catcher. The cheese catcher (don’t ask). The baby sock catcher. All the tiny random stuff that should have been cleaned out ends up in here.

Last week I found a twenty. Made my day, and it was my twenty to begin with!

So yes, I am very much enjoying and using my Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer. I love my machines.

And now, my bedsheets are done drying- and for two glorious seconds. . .I have no laundry.

*a moment of silence to commemorate this rare moment*

Ok, that’s done.

Now off to do more of this.

  2. My kids are older than yours and therefore can be held a little more responsible for emptying their pockets! I’ve begun setting the things I find in the washer/dryer on the window sill in my laundry room and they have to pay to get the item back (25 cents to a dollar…charged my husband 2 dollars the other day :) ). The only bad thing is that they haven’t left anything in a while…I did collect about $4 though :) ….

Also, the last blog you listed for the workbox giveaway says it’s a bad link :( .

  5. You must do a lot of laundry…considering it appears your computer is actually IN the laundry room. :) That is without a doubt a time saving trick: keep the computer next to the machines, that way you can kill two birds with one stone. That is one thing that almost made me not move into our new house (that I just moved into…while hubby is deployed…exactly one month ago today! sheesh) was the fact that the laundry room is the farthest away from everything. Great for keeping noise down…not so great for proximity to my location. Oh well. Live and learn!

  6. I feel like we should dance around a fire in triumph! Seriously — it’s a sort of warrior victory I fully understand. Congratulations!

  7. Ok you kinda ruined my day - I was sat here relaxing and now you reminded me of the mountain of laundry awaiting me downstairs ;) I think I’d prefer the baby snuggling!!!!

  8. I came here to check out the contest for the workbox but had to laugh bc I have 5 kids (4 boys & 1 girl) and I think I spend at least 4 days a week doing 24hrs of laundry! I always say “wow my life is soooo exciting. i do laundry and dishes. oh joy” (sarcastic of course!) and your post just sounded exactly like me! Glad I found your blog. Going to add it and Enjoy it! Thanks for writing it….. AprilDawn

  13. I’m not sure when my boys will ever get the concept that socks are meant to be worn with shoes. I have seen so many of those “holey” socks myself.

  14. I’ve been married for 34 years, and I have never had all of my laundry done at once. There have always been kitchen towels or sheets or something that remained. I’m jealous of your two glorious seconds!

  15. Laundry, Laundry, Laundry. Is there anything more to life? I am in love with your baskets for clean and folded clothes. Thank you! I am going to implement this system immediately for my boys. No more delivering clothes to everyone! Yay!

  16. I can top your twenty!! I found a $100 bill in my dryer and I did give it to it’s rightful owner (regretfully), my son, who needs to put more money in his bank acct than in his jeans pockets!!

  17. The laundry never ends here, either. Congratulations on catching up, even if only momentarily.

  18. I don’t think anyone other than a mother understands the true joy of FINISHING all the laundry. I can’t do it all at once, I have to space mine out over several days, but that washer and dryer are so nice, I might actually WANT to do the laundry!!

  19. You are the greatest storyteller, I LOVE reading your blog! I always get such good ideas too…where’s the “like” button? :D

  20. I can’t get over how much satisfaction I get when I finally get the laundry done. I don’t get quite as behind as I used to after putting some new processes in place this time last year. I wish I had your machines!
