Here

The Air Force isn’t getting back to us on the BOP thing. We hit the 7 week mark and I asked Chris to call. They said it had been reviewed on Sept 6th and “gee, someone should have gotten back to you on that”. But no one has. So they said, “we’ll flag this and someone will get back to you in 3 duty days.

That came and went as well.

For an institution whose core value is “Integrity First”, you’d think they could at least play by their own rules, no?

So that just bites.

I have no idea when we’ll hear. In fact, if we don’t hear in a few more weeks I will probably just tell Chris to cancel the dang request and go back to the usual not having any idea whether or not the Air Force plans to move us any time soon. The amplified, hopeful version is enough to make your head explode. Imagine waiting for pregnancy test results. Now do that for two months.

That’s where I’m at.

  1. Here’s hoping you get the assignment you want and soon!!! We are also an AF family and I know exactly what you are talking about when you talk about that feeling of being in “limbo”. The kids and I talk about when we get our “real house” all the time. It’s definitely a different lifestyle (good and bad). Love your blog!

  2. I’m so sorry. I hate this kind of waiting. And it’s so frustrating cuz you can’t do anything.

  4. Sorry. Waiting for orders is kinda’ sucky. Hope you guys get a base from your wish list. If not, come to Virginia! I live near Langley. Even though I’m a Navy wife, I’d still be your friend. LOL! Good luck!

  5. I feel your pain!! A curtailment is just as bad…we initially put in the request in March of 2008, and finally received an assignment July 30th. How ridiculous! The Air Force seems to enjoy the “hurry up and wait” mentality a little too much. I’m glad to hear your experience about BOP, because my husband wants to do that so we can stay put after he gets back from his deployment. I’d like to enjoy living in our house without fear of packing it up AGAIN anytime soon. :)

  7. The waiting and waiting must be so incredibly frustrating. I hope they get things figured out for you soon. Too bad the base is closed here or you could come live close to me :)

  10. Oh Leah, don’t you HATE not being in control of your own life…that is one part of the military life that I like the least…not knowing where or when you are going… and then having the date that you are SUPPOSED to know pass……you just wait and wait…I can’t stand it. I am always trying to plan in my head, “OK, if we go here…or if we go here…etc” Always up in the air, always in limbo.
Sorry, wish I was in charge. I would give you orders to here so you could be my neighbor!
