Loose Ends To Be Wrapped.
Clearly I’m out of it. Anyone else notice I used the same picture on 2 recent posts? Wow. Yeah. You should all be worried about my mental state. I know I am!
Gabe got sick. 104.2 degree kind of sick and we ended up in the ER. So he is on Tamiflu, and is improving. Maggie is still getting over it. Jonas is better. Chris and I are somehow still healthy. I’m waiting on h1N1 results, and frankly, I hope that is what it is just so I can know we’ve already done it and can just stop worrying about it. Because finding out that they all have weakened immune systems and are now even more susceptible would make me extra nervous. We had a child in our area die last week- Jonas’ age. So very, very sad. And very, very frightening.
The Air Force has officially gotten back to us, and their big, official answer is. . .
Wait for it. . .
We go nowhere. Travis AFB, CA will continue to be Home Sweet Home. On the up side, I like my house, my children are happy in their schools and now I’m going to do some serious decorating. On the down side, will we ever leave? EVER? What’s it going to take? I really hope it is not another 4 years before I get to go home again.
So, my winner is:
I would say with the way things have been…that they are going to keep you there but I truly HOPE that you go to your #1 spot or Utah!Comment by Casey Lu — October 17, 2009
The only pessimist in the bunch, You win! I really wanted to send the person who said I would get to go overseas a present. Hee! Casey, shoot me your mailing address and I will send you somethin’.

Well, sorry to hear you don’t get to go home, but look on the bright side: now you don’t have to worry about the military breaking anything. Our entire unaccompanied baggage was left out IN THE RAIN on our move here to Oklahoma. It wouldn’t have been so bad if both my husband’s and my computers weren’t in there, along with all of the electronic components (wires, monitors, printer, usb hubs, etc). Needless to say, the good ole government shelled out $4300.00 to pay for the damages. Crazy!

I am sad to hear you do not get to go home or here to Utah. I would have liked to have my amazing friend some what accessable again. Oh Well, I will just have to continue to read from afar.
I guess if you have to be stuck somewhere it may as well be someplace sunny and bright 99% of the year.
Plus, now the serious decorating can begin. I keep putting off decorating anything because I know I am just going to end up moving the second I get it semi right. I currently have a “Happy Everything” wreath on my door. It kind of suits me I guess, but eventually I would like some nice furnature or something.

Ugh on both counts: flu and Air Force blues. I’m so sorry the kids are sick, and all the best wishes for health to return to your house! (H1N1 is now in the dorms and spreading fast at the Tailor’s school, so everyone is pretty worried.)
Classic move on the part of the Air Force to give you BOP, and then say, “Just kidding!” But now, down to business: it’s decorating time! Have at it, my friend! You deserve some serious pretty time.

Bummer. At least you finally have an answer, not the one you were hoping for, but an answer from them nonetheless.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can. And the wisdom to know the difference.
Grandma told me to tell you that.
At least I have a warm place to go in the winter.
It is snowing here.

So sorry to hear that (btw, I found you’re blog on 2Peas and LOVE reading it). You’re just so real.

Good grief! First the kids and now the move. But you’re right to start the decorating! Get out the curtains and the paint and everything else you’ve been saving!
My son had the swine flu and Tamiflu is what they put him on. Thankfully his temperature didn’t get past 102, but still high.
Good luck with the kids and the decorating!

Leah,
Jonas is so cute in front of the washing machine!!! I am thinking about the kids and hope they all feel better soon. I have my kiddos in line to get the H1N1 shot 2nd week of November…I just hope they don’t get sick before the second dose! Take care and start decorating!!

Sorry #1: That you all are sick. The look on the bright side: you don’t have to line up for hours for the shot if you get a positive result for the swine flue, and you don’t have to worry about your health for a while.
Sorry #2: I’m sorry you aren’t going anywhere. I’d love to see you in my neighbourhood, you know that. I’ll keep sending my vibes, so that the Air Force see that they are doing something terribly wrong.
Sorry #3: With your talent for colors and design, you home decorations will make any of ours look like left hand work. Me not like.
I wish you all a nice week, recovering and out of fever and running noses.

So sorry the kids are sick! H1N1 is very scarey right now, we had a man in our area that died a couple of weeks ago, he was 50 and a little boy about a hour away died last week and he was 6! We just keep praying for a hedge of protection and washing hands alot! Praying for a quick recovery for ya’ll!

Sorry you didn’t get orders. If I remember what your husband does, I think there are only a few bases left that have KC-10’s. (I may be wrong about what he does, my mind is terrible) If it makes you feel any better we are in our 21st year in the Air Force and we have been to two bases (the same one twice) on the East Coast. LOL He can reapply in 45 days, did they tell you all that? Hope something changes for you.
Sorry your little ones are sick. My oldest (15) had H1N1 and he was DOWN for 6 days. Luckily (fingers crossed) he didn’t pass it on.

LOL, I just tell it like I see it. I was really hoping that they would send you somewhere you wanted to go but at least you can decorate your home and no longer be in limbo! I am so very saddened to hear that a boy in your area died from the H1N1 flu, so scary! I hope that your family stays healthy and like you said, maybe already had it. I pray that they will be healthy! I will email you, have a great week!

Leah it’s been awhile since I’ve visited your blog but I must say I’ve enjoyed catching up with you. That little boy is growing so fast and the washing machine babysitter post made me chuckle out loud and my DH asked “what’s so funny honey” I’m sorry you didn’t get the orders you were hoping for but you have a great attitude about it. I didn’t get something I wanted pretty badly this weekend either so I feel you. Hope you little ones get past the sickies quickly! Your blog is always a great read and I enjoy spending some time here
